Three time reigning champions of the Southern Conference, Hammersmith, ran riot over the Tigers at Putnoe Woods on Saturday.
Despite a strong start and racing into a 10-0 lead the Tigers showed an uncharacteristic dip in performance and struggled to piece much of a game together thereafter.
Hammersmith on the other hand showed exactly why they are there back to back to back champions of the competition and were relentless in their pursuit of a victory on ANZAC day. The largely Australian populated side enjoyed their traditional Memorial Day by running in 11 tries to the Tigers' three.
Bailey Thomas and Jack Brown got us off to a good start and Kayne Chan added what was a consolation third in the second half but the damage was already done.
"There's not much else to say about today other than we were just really poor". Said head coach Matt Lambert. "We have two weeks until our next game and that can't happen again".
The Tigers Reserves had better fortune on the day with a comfortable 58 - 10 win over Hemel Stags in the East Cup quarter final. They face Anglian Vipers in the semi final next week in Norfolk!
